It is rumoured that Google is going to release Android 4.4 on October 15 and we will also see the next Generation of Nexus device the same day. Nexus 5 will be the first device to have Android 4.4.

Google a month back announced the Kitkat upgrade for Android, that is Android 4.4 and less than 3 days are left from now when Google will be showing us what's new in Kitkat. If the rumour is correct, then it is probably that Google is not holding any special event for the launch because if so, invitations for the event would already have been sent.

We have already seen some of the leaked photos of Nexus 5 in the recent weeks. It's quite normal now to see leaks of the devices before their expected launch. Google's Nexus series is quite popular among Android users, and Nexus 4 was a big hit. In fact, the limited edition, White Nexus 4 lasted for short time.

I really like the way Google plans the physical appearance of the Nexus devices, specially the last two Nexus devices. Also, Nexus devices are famous for high-end specifications at low-cost, this is a plus point. The other reason why most users end up buying Nexus devices is that these devices are first to get the firmware upgrades.

An Italian Android blog has exclusive photos of the leaked Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 and the photos pretty much reveal the lockscreen, launcher, app drawer, status bar and the navigation bar will look in Kitkat.

I really like the new launcher and the transparent navigation and status bar. The lockscreen is pretty much the same as that of current version with a camera icon at the bottom right corner. You have to probably drag the camera to the open the camera, or you can slide through the screen too.

The new launcher is pretty much different. The app drawer contains full rows of apps with background too. The launcher in current version doesn't show the wallpaper in the app drawer but there are some launchers, like Nova and Apex which support this feature. The icons for Phone, Google Search and Google Plus Settings are changed. The icon size of the apps in the launcher and app drawer looks bigger.

Also, the status bar has white icons for Wi-Fi, Signal and Battery with almost transparent background. The background of the navigation bar at the bottom is also transparent which makes the screen look quite bigger. There is no change in the Google Now Search widget.

The User Interface looks better, cleaner than any version of Android I have seen. The new stock wallpapers are pretty simple.

The Specifications

The expected specs for Google Nexus 5 includes 5 inch screen with full HD 1080p display, 2.3 Ghz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2300 mAH battery, 2GB of RAM, 8 megapixel of camera with Optical Image Stabilization and 1.3 megapixel of front camera.

Nexus 5 will also have NFC and Wireless Charging. It is also expected to have always listening Google Now. So, you can say "Ok Google Now" to open Voice Search. There can also be a new option in Settings, "Tap & Pay" will allow you to set up quick pay.
