Facebook today announced Paper, a news reader app that will be available for iPhone. The app will fetch stories from user’s friends from Facebook and present them in a beautiful full-screen view.

Paper will feature gesture and movement based browsing. Users will be able to explore high-resolution photos just by tilting their iPhone. Users will be able to browse through the Facebook updates in Paper, and in a nice, minimalistic interface. Videos will be played in full-screen too. Users will also be able to post to Facebook using the WYSIWYG editor in Paper app.

Facebook’s Paper will allow users to browse stories of different categories like Tech, Life, Science etc. Users can select the story categories that will appear on the Paper feed. All the stories containing links will be opened in the app itself. The links will be presented in a Flipboard like interface.

Facebook also made a video of Paper app that shows how the app will work highlighting the features and gestures that the app will provide. The app looks absolutely gorgeous and I am sure most of the users will end up using Paper instead of Facebook’s Official app.

The app is going to make the debut on 3rd of February on the iTunes App Store. Facebook hasn’t mentioned Android version of Paper, so a disappointment for Android users. But I think they will be releasing it on Android too.
