One of the best techniques of taking photos is focussed or macro photography. The technique is to focus on nearby object and the background gets automatically blurred.
Cameras have iAuto mode which automatically detects and takes Macro shots when you capture objects which are very close. You can also use manual modes and change the focus distance for taking macro photos. And we also have many lens specially for taking close photos. Macro photography was actually by Fritz Goro for taking photos of extremely small size compared to their life span. But it is always good practice such techniques in different conditions, like close-up photos of a flower, or of an insect.
